NBA Trade Rumors: Golden State - "If You Want Monta, Give Us Dwight" - Yahoo! Sports

The Orlando Magic have been doing everything in their power to bring in a second fiddle for Dwight Howard.

The cold blunt reality of the matter is that other NBA teams are not going to just help out for the sake of it. Maybe things like that can go without being said, but sometimes fans forget that to obtain a player, a player of equal value must be surrendered.

In the world of NBA 2K video games, people forget that just because salaries check out and the players seem to have ostensibly similar values, doesn't mean that teams are going to succumb to deals that significantly strengthen another franchise.

That is the dilemma for the Magic, and the Warriors have now made it clear to the Magic that there is no one on the roster that they want in return for Ellis, except that number 12 guy that everyone seems to be talking about so much.

The immediate thought of any Magic fan would then be, "Well, how 'bout Curry?"

I fear the reaction by Warriors management would be much the same.

Outside of J.J. Redick and Ryan Anderson, Orlando has no one that any other team would covet at all. Anderson is becoming one of the top power forwards in the league and is on a $2 million contract. Redick gets $6 million a year and is putting up good numbers too. All the Magic's other players are either not good enough (Jameer Nelson) or on ridiculous contracts and aging (Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu).

So where do the Magic turn next?

The only other option they really even have is to go after Steve Nash, because if the Warriors aren't going to part with Monta, that is just one more name Otis Smith can check off his wish list, as the days continue to pass and Howard progresses further along his way towards playing for another NBA team.
